Race for a place
By: Baxter Grimer
As the Stanley Cup playoffs get closer, the race for a spot of contention gets tighter. In the Metropolitan division, the Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins are neck and neck. Separated by only four points, Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals are on their way to stealing the third place spot. After a dominant outing in the Steel city on Saturday afternoon, the Caps tightened the gap even more with a 6-3 win.
With such major separation between fourth and fifth place. Playoffs for these two franchises seem almost certain. Given their histories a possible showdown between the Caps and Pens could be in the near future. Although Washington leads the regular season series 3-1, anything could happen.
