Ovi’s Only One Away…

On Tuesday, March 8th, Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals took on the Flames in Calgary, and Ovechkin is looking to make history. After scoring twice on Markstrom, Ovechkin totaled 766 career goals, tying Jaromir Jagr for the most career goals of all time. This is an absolutely insane milestone for the Russian hockey player, not only for him, but also for the Capitals, who have been sliding in the standings for a majority of the new year. 

Ovechkin has been an absolute machine for Washington as expected. The Russian legend recently just resigned another contract with the Capitals for $47.5 million over 5 years, coming off a 13-year $124 million deal which he debatably outperformed. 

Ovechkin now seeks to overtake Jagr in the 3rd place standing for career goals, which he failed to do against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday despite having 8 filthy SOG.

Tonight (Friday the 11th) the Capitals will take on the Vancouver Canucks – will Ovechkin surpass Jaromir Jagr tonight?
