LaMelo Ball UNDER 7.5 assists (-110 FD)
LaMelo and the Hornets get a tough matchup tonight against the Miami Heat. The Heat have been one of the top defenses in the league all season and rank 3rd in the NBA in defensive efficiency over the last month. LaMelo has gone under this line in 5 of his last 7 games and is only averaging 6.6 APG since January 1st. In 3 games against the Heat this season, he went 2-1 to the under, averaging only 12.3 PPG, 6.3 RPG and 6 APG. The Hornets team was only able to score an average of 96 points in those 3 games, well below their season average of 113.9. Fading LaMelo might seem like a scary proposition, but facing a good defense that has had success stopping him multiple times this season, in a game that we expect to be lower scoring sets up for a nice under play here. You could also look at his under PRA at 35.5 but we prefer the assists since his shot volume has been through the roof lately, with 3 of his last 4 games having at least 21 FGA’s, so the assists under 7.5 is our favorite bet here.
