Wow! We are at the end of the 2021-2022 NCAA Men’s college basketball season. We have seen some crazy things this NCAA season. We saw North Carolina absolutely choke away a huge lead to Kansas in the national championship. Also, we saw the Cinderella story team of St.Peters get their way into the Elite Eight. The thing that impressed me the most was watching Paolo Banchero dominate this season for Duke. Banchero is a 6 foot 10 forward who can shoot, pass and dominate in the paint. Banchero, in some mock drafts, is predicted to be the number one overall pick. I agree with those mock drafts. I think that he is the best college player in the nation by far. We saw in the Gonzaga versus Duke game earlier this college season, Banchero driving on Chet Holmgren, who is also going to be a top three pick in this year’s draft. Banchero, is about five inches shorter, but was bodying the scrawny Holmgren. This college season Banchero averaged 17.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists. He did this on 47.8 percent shooting from the field and 33.8 percent from deep. The reason I think that Banchero is going to be the best player out of this year’s draft is because Banchero can do everything. He is great on the defensive end of the floor with a 98.0 defensive rating. On the offensive side of the ball, Banchero is very efficient and moves the ball well in transition. Every aspect of Banchero’s game is solid. I can see his game transitioning to the NBA, just like he has been playing in college. I expect great things from Banchero in the NBA. He is such an exciting player to watch, and we should all be on the lookout for a dominant career by him.
